National Consultant for Monitoring and Evaluation of SDGs Projects in Nigeria

Description of Project:

The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs had over the years led the implementation of several projects towards the achievement of the various SDG targets and indicators. The Office sought technical assistance to help it improve its strategy and methodology in assessing the performance of all SDGs projects and programs across the country.

The objective of the project

  1. To ensure that resources voted for SDGs projects and programs are fully channelled to the purposes intended by identifying all leakages, diversions, and bottlenecks.

  2. To ensure that the approved implementation plans for MDAs, States SDGs funded projects, and programs are strictly adhered to, especially relating to coverage, quality, outputs, and outcomes at the local level.

  3. To demonstrate transparent use of Government resources, especially the funds of SDGs to Nigerians, to help leverage additional

Interventions: PGS conducted a comprehensive desk review of all projects awarded between 2018 and 2019, reviewed and upgraded the national M&E data capturing tool, developed an online real-time template for data reporting, developed a work plan and deployed human and material resources for data collection. A comprehensive analysis of 501 projects for 2018 and 1,070 projects for 2019 was carried out, and a national M&E report was shared for management decisions.
