Application of HIV/Syphilis Duo Test Kits by the National AIDS and STIs Control Programme (NASCP)

Description of the Project:

NASCP has adopted a service integration approach to achieve the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV and Syphilis. One major strategy to achieve this is the country-wide deployment of HIV/Syphilis Duo Test Kits that allow pregnant women to take advantage of simultaneous testing of these two diseases at a single hospital visit. The deployment of this novel test kit required that the laboratory personnel and point of care testers be upskilled to improve the accuracy of the test result and the treatment outcome of the clients.

Interventions: Working closely with Codix Pharma Limited and SD Biosensor, South Korea, PGS designed and delivered regional training workshops across the country. The training workshops were attended by key HIV program managers and service providers across the country.
